March Nutrition Challenge… Do you accept?

So, we have Dominated December, had Open Gym January and February Unlimited, that is a lot of training.  When I was brainstorming ideas for what we could do in March a nutrition goal was the first thing to pop into my head.

You know you cannot out-exercise poor nutrition right?

You have been doing an amazing job with your training, so let’s dial in that other crucial part of the equation.

Here’s what we are going to do here is one universal challenge for all of you…

Challenge #1 – Within the first 30-minutes of getting out of bed, drink one glass of hot (from the tap, not to burn your mouth) water.  Your goal is to get at least 21 days out of the 31 days in March.

Why warm water?  Lots of reasons…

  • Most of you don’t drink enough water, so let’s get things started right away
  • It gets your digestive system moving
  • It might make you have to poop – which is a good thing

Some also say it helps you lose weight, relieves pain, etc – – I don’t know about any of those.

Challenge #2 – Select one personal nutrition habit that you will focus on for the entire month.  It could be something you wish to add to your diet – like drinking water, or eating more fruits and veggies.  Or it might be something you wish to eliminate or reduce from your diet, like drinking pop, alcohol or eating junk food.

Make sure it is measurable.  Instead of saying…

“I want to eat more fruits and vegetables”

you will say…

“I will eat at least one fresh fruit or one fresh vegetable (fresh frozen is fine) with every meal breakfast, lunch and dinner”

Put this on your accountability form in the binder – if you don’t have one, just ask your coach for a copy to get started.

Here are a few other ideas:

  • drink at least 1L of water per day
  • have no more than one coffee per day
  • only eat Chipotle on days that end in “y” (that’s mine 😉 )
  • Make your own lunch at least 3 days per week
